EXPERIENCE
What is included in the event?
You get approximately 4 personalised cocktails delivered by our expert mixologists, using the liquor you smuggle in with you. All mixers, bitters, syrups and other ingredients that go into making your gang delicious cocktails are included in the ticket price, so please simply bring your own spirit of choice.
Included within the ticket price is also a fully immersive experience, involving highly talented actors, unique storylines and impressive set design.
Those that want to get involved in the storyline are highly encouraged to do so! Those that would prefer to sit back and enjoy are welcome to do that too, whilst enjoying personalised cocktails in this unique and fun world.

There is street parking available. There are several paid car parks around the venue as well. We highly recommend coming via public transport since it is well connected and next to the Queen Victoria Market.

Our jumpsuits sizes range between XS - 4XL. Please note that they are not compulsory and can be worn in a more comfortable way (i.e tying it around the waist).
Is it scary?
Alcotraz is an immersive cocktail experience but is not scary. We have actors working inside the prison who help bring to life a fun, lighthearted experience for guests. If at any time guests do not act respectful and polite towards actors and the venue then they run the risk of their experience being cut short.
Is there a minimum or maximum group size?
There is no minimum group size. If attending in a small group of 2 or 3, we will do our best to ensure that you are kept separate from others and receive your own cell but on occasion this is not always possible and there is a chance that you may end up within the same cell as another couple or small group.
Cells can seat 6 guests max, so if above 6 in a group, we will do our best to seat your group in adjacent or opposite cells.
Will I have a private cell?
If attending in a small group of 2 or 3, we will do our best to ensure that you are kept separate from others and receive your own cell but on occasion this is not always possible and there is a chance that you may end up within the same cell as another couple or small group. To ensure your own private cell, please book for 4-6 inmates.
Will there be merchandise for sale?
There will not be merchandise for sale at the event.

Yes, but it is not mandatory. We encourage you to interact with the actors to fully immerse yourself in the experience.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Behaviour Management
The business must prevent drunk or disorderly individuals from entering or remaining on the premises.
Access will be denied to underage patrons.
Consumption Areas
Alcohol is permitted only within the designated permit area or "red line area" as specified in the permit documentation.
Management of Liquor Bottles Brought by Patrons
- Only sealed bottles from recognised brands will be accepted; pre-opened bottles are not permitted.
- Patrons are encouraged to share a bottle(s). We recommend 5 x 50ml mini bottles for groups of 2. For groups of 3-4 we recommend 1 x 500ml bottle and for groups of 5-6 inmates we recommend 1 x 700ml bottle.
- All bottles brought by patrons will be stored behind the bar for the duration of the event, ensuring that alcohol consumption is fully controlled by our trained bar staff. A maximum of four drinks per patron will be served throughout the experience, spaced according to scripted events, which helps regulate consumption more effectively than typical BYO settings, where patrons may drink at their own discretion.
Management of Opened Liquor Bottles Upon Exit
Unfortunately we will not be able to return open bottles with liquor to guests to take home. Due to Victoria liquor laws, we will have to dispose of any leftover liquor. It is therefore important you bring the correct quantity of liquor for your group size to avoid any wastage. Our recommendations are in the previous FAQ.
DRINKS
Will food and beverage be available on site for purchase? How much alcohol do we need to bring?
No food will be served or purchasable on site. There will be an option to purchase alcohol to be used in your experience on-site for $15 per person intended for those who are unable to bring their own, forget or do not follow the recommended quantities accurately. This option is also available for purchase in advance when completing the booking process for your tickets online.
For individuals only drinking non-alcoholic drinks, there is no need to bring anything and no need to purchase anything on-site. For individuals bringing their own liquor to enjoy cocktails there is no need to purchase anything more on-site. We recommend 5 x 50ml mini bottles for groups of 2. For groups of 3-4 we recommend 1 x 500ml bottle and for groups of 5-6 inmates we recommend 1 x 700ml bottle
Our team of inmate mixologists are highly skilled, therefore, we recommend smuggling in base spirits, such as Gin, Vodka, Rum etc so they can make you and your gang delicious cocktails.
Can we bring non-spirits, like beer and wine?
Our team of inmate mixologists are highly skilled, therefore, we recommend smuggling in spirit so they can make you and your gang delicious cocktails. However, if some guests wanted to simply bring other choices of liquor like wine or beer, this is no problem and our team will be able to serve that for them in our prison cups.
Do we get back any alcohol we don’t drink?
Unfortunately we will not be able to return open bottles with liquor in to guests to take home. Due to Victoria liquor laws, we will have to dispose of any leftover liquor. It is therefore important you bring the correct quantity of liquor for your group size to avoid any wastage. Our recommendations are in the previous FAQ.
