I don’t hide that I was skeptical at the beginning but it ended up a really amazing experience! Everything was good: the environment, ambience, cocktails, actors. 100% recommend!

Evee F

Had a fantastic time at Alcotraz for my birthday, really got involved in the interactive experience. Would highly recommend a special event which is a bit different but full of fun and with your own delicious personalized cocktails!

Paul Allen

One of the best experiences ever! Bring some spirits then they will make you AMAZING cocktails!!! The actors are GREAT! Get fully involved. So impressed!!!!!

Sean Knittle

Very fun…. not an escape room, very much a show/experience. Be sure to bring your own alcohol to “smuggle in.” Great job by the actors and the four drinks were very well-made. Don’t overthink it, just enjoy the experience!

What is included in the event?

You get approximately 4 personalised cocktails delivered by our expert mixologists, using the liquor you smuggle in with you. All mixers, bitters, syrups and other ingredients that go into making your gang delicious cocktails are included in the ticket price, so please simply bring your own spirit of choice.

Included within the ticket price is also a fully immersive experience, involving highly talented actors, unique storylines and impressive set design.

Those that want to get involved in the storyline are highly encouraged to do so! Those that would prefer to sit back and enjoy are welcome to do that too, whilst enjoying personalised cocktails in this unique and fun world.

Where is the experience located? The experience takes place at 592 Elizabeth Street in Melbourne, located right next to the Queen Victoria Market.

Will food and beverage be available on site for purchase? How much alcohol do we need to bring? All the drinks are already included in your tickets and nothing will be available for purchase onsite. No food will be served or purchasable on site. There is no liquor in Alcotraz so it is important you smuggle in your own. We recommend 1x 350ml for every 2-3 inmates, 1x 700ml bottle of spirit for every 5-6 inmates! Is it scary? Alcotraz is an immersive cocktail experience but is not scary. We have actors working inside the prison who help bring to life a fun, lighthearted experience for guests. If at any time guests do not act respectful and polite towards actors and the venue then they run the risk of their experience being cut short.
Is there a minimum or maximum group size? There is no minimum group size. If attending in a small group of 2 or 3, we will do our best to ensure that you are kept separate from others and receive your own cell but on occasion this is not always possible and there is a chance that you may end up within the same cell as another couple or small group.
Cells can seat 6 guests max, so if above 6 in a group, we will do our best to seat your group in adjacent or opposite cells.
Will I have a private cell? If attending in a small group of 2 or 3, we will do our best to ensure that you are kept separate from others and receive your own cell but on occasion this is not always possible and there is a chance that you may end up within the same cell as another couple or small group. To ensure your own private cell, please book for 4-6 inmates.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Behaviour Management

The business must prevent drunk or disorderly individuals from entering or remaining on the premises.

Access will be denied to underage patrons.

Consumption Areas Alcohol is permitted only within the designated permit area or "red line area" as specified in the permit documentation.
Management of Liquor Bottles Brought by Patrons

Patrons are encouraged to share group bottles. Only sealed bottles from recognised brands will be accepted; pre-opened bottles are not permitted.

All bottles brought by patrons will be stored behind the bar for the duration of the event, ensuring that alcohol consumption is fully controlled by our trained bar staff. A maximum of four drinks per patron will be served throughout the experience, spaced according to scripted events, which helps regulate consumption more effectively than typical BYO settings, where patrons may drink at their own discretion.

Management of Opened Liquor Bottles Upon Exit To ensure the safe return of opened spirit bottles, lids will be replaced on all bottles before patrons leave the premises. The venue will return the bottles to guests in opaque paper bags. This measure helps prevent consumption outside the venue and maintains public discretion by ensuring that bottles are not visible to the public upon departure.

DRINKS

Will food and beverage be available on site for purchase? How much alcohol do we need to bring?

All the drinks are already included in your tickets and nothing will be available for purchase onsite. No food will be served or purchasable on site. There is no liquor in Alcotraz so it is important you smuggle in your own. We recommend 1x 35cl for every 2 inmates, 1x 70cl bottle of spirit for every 3-4 inmates! Our team of inmate mixologists are highly skilled, therefore, we recommend smuggling in base spirits, such as Gin, Vodka, Rum etc so they can make you and your gang delicious cocktails.

If coming in larger groups, please bring as few variations of spirit (Rum, Gin, Vodka etc) as possible within the group. All bitters, purees, juices, syrups and other ingredients that go into making delicious cocktails are included within entry price so please simply bring your own choice of liquor.

Can we bring non-spirits, like beer and wine? Our team of inmate mixologists are highly skilled, therefore, we recommend smuggling in spirit so they can make you and your gang delicious cocktails. However, if some guests wanted to simply bring other choices of liquor like wine or beer, this is no problem and our team will be able to serve that for them in our prison cups.
Do we get back any alcohol we don’t drink? Yes, any liquor you smuggled in that was not used by your mixologist will be returned back to you at the end of your sentence.
Are non-alcoholic drinks available? Yes they are. Instead of smuggling in your liquor to make up your cocktails, you will receive 4x expertly crafted mocktails included within the ticket price!
Can I bring opened bottles of alcohol? Alcotraz operates a closed bottle policy meaning we will not accept any bottles previously opened. Please only bring new, unopened and sealed bottles.
